Who We Are

GUIDED BY ELDERS, UNITED IN VISION

Khasdzoon Yusk’ut Botanical Garden is a communal project led by the David Douglas Botanical Garden Society, in collaboration with the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation and the University of Northern British Columbia.

The name was gifted by the Lheidli T’enneh Elders Society, with guidance from Elder Edith Rose Frederick, to reflect the cultural and ecological legacy of the land.

Leading the Growth of KYBG

THE ROLE OF THE DAVID DOUGLAS BOTANICAL GARDEN SOCIETY

Founded in 1991, the David Douglas Botanical Garden Society (DDBGS) is the driving force behind the creation of KYBG. Named after the renowned 19th-century botanist David Douglas, the Society has long championed native plant conservation, northern horticulture, and public education.
